Pilates Matwork (P/M)

This Pilates specific class has a unique approach to help you get into shape. Postural awareness, control and stability training of this type is safe and effective at all ages and fitness levels. All classes require an exercise mat except meditation. they are available for hire or purchase at the Wellness Centre. While we love children, they are not allowed into the classes due to insurance issues (except for the Mums & Bubs classes). 

Pilates Power Barre

Pilates has always been an amazing tool for strength, tone and general wellbeing   Well it just got better!  This is power Pilates - zupped up and with bells on.  We have stepped it up with the use of the barre and a Resistance Bands to increase the efficacy of the workout - the use of the band enables better understanding of the core stabilizers of the pelvis and abdominals and the resistance multiplies all the benefits of Pilates that you know and love - increased stamina, leaner muscles, and a super toned core to provide postural support to reduce aches and pains that arise from muscle inefficiency. Everything you need to make you trim, taut and terrific!

Pilates Matwork Beginners Course

The Wellness Centre has designed a safe, step-by-step Pilates 6 week program where young and old can discover the long lasting benefits of Pilates. Fantastic for people who are completely new to Pilates or just wanted to re-visit the basics,  No previous experience is needed and it is suitable for all fitness levels. You just need to bring yourself, an exercise mat and have a desire to learn & break through old movement & breathing patterns.

Flow Yoga:

All of our yoga classes offer a range of levels within the class sequence so you can work at a pace you find appropriate.
Beginners can ease into the sequence with guidance, use of props and posture modifications. Experienced students will be met with options to develop and deepen their practice and understanding. These Vinyasa flow classes include some of the Ashtanga prinicples.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa  is also called flow yoga  because it directly focuses on “breath-synchronized movement.” What this means is your yoga instructor will teach you to move from one posture or pose to the next and inhale or exhale while completing the transition as well as the movements themselves.  Each movement in the series of Vinyasa is completed on an inhalation or an exhalation. Classes are suitable for all levels.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of asanas (postures) aimed to encourage internal heat and purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. This combination results in improving circulation as well as developing a light and strong body with a calm mind. Ashtanga students who know the proper pacing and sequencing of the poses and wish to do a Mysore style practice are welcome-  you will receive adjustments and options as needed. Friendly for both beginners and the experienced student. Come along to the new style classes to try this very traditional style of yoga. 

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissue including the ligaments, bones and joints of the body that may not be stretched very much in the more active styles of yoga. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Muscles are intended to be relaxed in the asanas and also held for longer periods of time. Yin Yoga especially targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

Prana Yoga

Prana translates as vital force or energy. We can harness our vital force with traditional yoga postures that focus on relaxing and re energising the body and include breathwork and meditation to clear the mind,
reduce restlessness and tension and calm the nervous system. A class for moving slowly, nourishing, resting and re energising.

Foam Roller Class

Many muscular & skeletal problems can be caused by the fascia (connective tissue) that  surrounds the muscles becoming too tight and short. Foam rolling with Pilates principles acts like a good sports massage helping to release and stretch the fascia and muscles therefore increasing blood; oxygen and nutrient flow to these areas.

BarreFIT

Firstly 40 minutes of conditioning to tone your body. Then 20 minutes of stretch & relax to lengthen the muscles and release built up tension. Includes Barre exercises & circuit training utilizing resistance bands, Pilates balls & hand weights.  A great complimentary class to strengthen you for all your other activities as well as those just starting out on the Barre.

Barre Attack

A dynamic fusion of Pilates, Bal­let and Fit­ness. It’s an all body work­out using the clas­sic Bal­let Barre that attacks those dreaded prob­lem areas — legs, butt, thighs and arms. Classes are multi-leveled and designed to challenge bodies of any gender, age, or fitness level. Video & more information here
