Stress is a common problem of modern society. It impacts on our work and family life and generally reduces our level of happiness. There is growing evidence that sustained stress can also result in a number of physical ailments. This course is designed to give participants practical skills that can help reduce the amount of stressful reactions in a person’s life.

The Wellness Centre's "hang loose" Stress Management Course gives you a range of tools to reset the mind and emotions from the effects of past and/or present stressful situations.

These classes are also for those carers who have friends or family who are battling with high stress levels and would like to understand and be of practical help.

Don't wait until stress has a negative impact on your health, relationships or quality of life. Start practicing a range of stress management techniques.

In this course the instructor will teach participants how to:

  • identify stressors in our lives and manage them.
  • use on the spot techniques to reduce stress & emotional regulation
  • learn long term strategies to stress management.
  • understand lifestyle changes that greatly improve results
  • identify thoughts patterns that make situations feel worse
  • learn how stress is a result of how our minds perceive events and not the event itself
  • incorporate relaxation techniques for stress management including mediatation & mindfulness.
  • understand why people stop practicing stress management techniques & relapse into old patterns

The course will run for 1 1/4 hours per week for 6 weeks. Places are limited.
