These original BarreFIT (Barre Fitness) classes were designed & facilitated by Elizabeth since  Nov. 2014 at the Wellness Centre Wollongong. Elizabeth saw a need  for people wanting to ease into barre classes for various reasons e.g. beginners, reduced fitness, strength, flexibility and those recovering from injury. Attendees being encouraged to take the classes at their own pace. No judgement, no competition.

Firstly these classes are 2/3 of low impact conditioning to tone your body based on the Barre fitness program , then 1/3 of dance based stretching to lengthen the muscles and release built up tension. Classes include Barre exercises & circuit training utilizing resistance bands, Pilates balls & hand weights.  A great complimentary class to strengthen you for all your other activities as well as those just starting out on the Barre.

Our BarreFit classes have been running at least twice a week for many years with great attendance and the members love it! Currently these are held Mondays & Thursdays at 9.30am. I know the scoliosis will continue to develop, along with my pinched and spasming muscles, but I also know that exercise will keep me strong flexible and while I continue to enjoy classes - the music, those great stretches, and many friendships - it's a definite plus, plus - also heaps of fun - I can't lose!"    Corallee

Remem­ber, drink plenty of water, let your instruc­tor know if you’ve got any health issues, and focus on your body posi­tion and tim­ing. Teachers are always at hand to offer individual help. Once you’ve attended a few classes the moves will come nat­urally to you and that means it’s work­ing. Have fun! Open to both women & men. Come and join us.
